Rachel Green is a shopaholic who left a man at the altar. After being adjusted to the high life, she learns how to work for herself by starting as a waitress at Central Perk. She's funny, cute, and a lovable person. |
Rachel runs into Monica Geller, her high school friend, whose dream is to become a professional chef because of her love of food. Monica Geller is the definition of a "glo-up". She used to be extremely overweight, but she eventually became fit. (Why? You'll have to watch the show to find out.) She a Type A person. She cares about her china plates, loves to clean, insists on using a coaster to prevent the condensation on the coffee table, and etc.
Her brother, Ross Geller, is an paleontologist who has a crush on Rachel ever since the ninth grade. We realize a huge mistake early on in the show that he married a lesbian named Carol. He is crazy about dinosaurs and will fight those who will throw away his moist turkey sandwich. |
Chandler Bing, the sarcastic friend (who we still do not know what he does for a living exactly), is Ross's college friend. He is in a complicated relationship with Janice, a woman who has a horse-like laugh and a nasally voice.
Joey Tribbiani is the lovable, naive womanizer who loves acting. He is the only son in his family of of many Italian children. Joey may seem familiar because he plays Dr. Drake Ramoray on Days of Our Lives. Don't forget to watch him try "smell-the-fart" acting! |
Phoebe Buffay is a quirky vegan and works as a masseuse. She rants about depressing topics in a enthusiastic, yet not sarcastic, tone about her suicidal mom and her evil twin named Ursula. You can always find her singing her infamous "Smelly Cat" off-key at Central Perk. |

I would recommend this show to everyone! This is a classic and watching this series over and over again won't fail to make you laugh and/or cry. Some of the best episodes (in my opinion) are the Thanksgiving ones and the finales. The finales are extremely well done and leave the audience with a steep cliffhanger.
The show started in 1994 and ended in 2004, producing 10 seasons of goodness. Each episode is about 20 minutes long. It is possible to watch 10 years worth of television in one week. Trust me, I tried it. Now, don't judge me. (I finished the entire show during Spring Break. It took a lot of work: 8 hours of dedicated work.)
This show is available on Netflix and re-runs may be on any late night show.
