This is Rory Gilmore. Her real name is Lorelai, named after her mother. But to distinguish herself and her mom, she goes by Rory. Rory is the quintessential example of a perfect daughter: she's kind, has great friends, gets good grades, and respects her small town. However, she finds herself falling for a boy named Dean Forester. |
This is the reigning Lorelai. She is the mom that everyone wants. She's also the one who you can't imagine is a mom. Lorelai had Rory as a teenager with her boyfriend Christopher Hayden. She's quirky, talks really fast, and loves coffee. How can anyone not like her? |
Lane Kim is Rory's best friend. Lane is the rebellious teenager in all of us. Her mom, Mrs. Kim, is a strict Seventh Day Adventist and sells antiques. Lane, on the other hand, loves rock and roll and dyed her hair purple once. Just like any sneaky teenager would do, Lane hides all her things underneath the floorboards near her bed. |
Dean Forester is Rory's first boyfriend. He is the sweetest one. (I'm totally not biased. Well maybe I am because he's played by Jared Padalecki.) Dean is a caring boyfriend who is willing to change if it helps the relationship. Rory encouraged him to pursue higher education and he took her advice to heart and applied to Southern Connecticut State College. He even built Rory a car! A properly working car! What else can you want? (Seriously, for those who hate Dean or are against #TeamDean, please reconsider.) |
Jess Mariano is Luke Dane's nephew. He's the bad boy who falls in love with Rory. While he may seem like a douchebag in the beginning, he is sweet and gentle to Rory. He treats others like trash, but to Rory he gives her all his attention. (I can see why majority of Gilmore Girls fans are #TeamJess, but they have to reconsider about being Rory's boyfriend.) |
Logan Huntzberger III. He's the Yale legacy and runs Yale's school newspaper. He meets Rory and tries to gain her attention through the mysterious club called Life and Death Brigade and by buying a whole food cart for her. His family is similar to the Gilmore family. Well, Rory's grandparent's family. They're both rich and come from a line of Yale legacies. While Logan was a player, his feelings for Rory have always been clear. |
Luke Danes is the owner of Luke's Diner. His small, commodious diner welcomes the residents of Stars Hollow. Although he's not a dad (or is he?) , he has the typical "dad responses". I don't want to call Luke as pessimistic, but he is a realistic person. He believes in practicality. He begins to develop an affection for Lorelai when she visits his diner and he helps fix her house. |

I really enjoy this show. The show focuses on the character development of both main and secondary characters. I can relate more to this show because Rory is a high school student/college student, dealing with the coming-of-age events unlike dystopian television shows set in the future. I highly recommend this show for everyone! This is a fantastic show and you will not be disappointed.
The show started in 2000 and has 7 seasons and each episode is 40 minutes long. In 2016, Netflix released four 90-minute episodes recounting a year in the life of the Gilmore girls. (If you would like a review of the newer episodes, please let me know in the comments!) The show ended with unfinished business. I wouldn't exactly call it a cliffhanger because it didn't make me feel blindsided. The newer episodes definitely released me from mystery. The original show and the newer episodes are available on Netflix.
